Streetside Nightstand

A couple of months ago The Southern Gent came home from walking the dogs one morning and told me about this great nightstand he saw in front of someone’s house in our neighborhood. I was somewhat dubious. He sweetly brought home this huge desk for me one day and well, let’s just say that after a couple of weeks in our garage we both decided that it needed to go back out on the street.

So, I was ecstatic when I picked this little guy up and saw an all wood piece in really decent condition.

There is one interesting aspect to it though. You might notice it in the above picture.

We are not sure but it looks like someone cut the back, right side of it to make it fit with another piece of furniture maybe. What are your thoughts?

I am thinking of filling in the cut and notch with wood putty . . .

I think it gives it a bit more character. What do you think?

  1. Hey Christy Cute Piece!!!!! I have came across a few pieces just like it with that little notch in the back. I wonder if at one time it was part of another larger piece such as a vanity and they cut the two sides off. I don’t know but just a thought. Cute cute though. Perfect size for a nightstand. Are you going to paint it? Can’t wait to see the finished product!!! (:
