What is it?

One night when the Southern Gent and I were on a walk we found this item in a pile of stuff to be hauled away in front of a house. We passed it again the next night. Then, I passed it the following day while I was walking on my own. It intrigued me. Finally, I drove over to the house and picked it up.

Unfortunately, I do not have a picture of what it looked like when I first loaded it in my car but it was pretty dirty and the Southern Gent couldn’t believe that I was going to drag it home. Once I cleaned it off though it started to look better.

I am still not sure what it is. I found a couple of screws and other things similar to that inside of the cubbies that make me think it might have been a caddy of sorts in someone’s garage. It possibly housed varying nails, screws, bolts – things of that nature.

Do any of you have any suggestions on what it is? I have been thinking of turning it into a magazine caddy or something else. Any suggestions on what else I can do with it?
