Mashed potatoes, they are a staple at Thanksgiving meals. As y’all plan and prepare your meals for tomorrow, I would like to suggest an alternative to mashed potatoes. Called Mashed NO-tatoes, I found this recipe in the Maximized Living Nutrition Plans book.
The book is great by the way. In addition to recipes, it also gives you a rundown on the foods we eat today. Have you ever wondered why you “should” buy grass fed herbivores or purchase organic vegetables? You take one look at the prices and think, yeah right!
This book might make you get over the sticker shock. In 169 pages (that includes the recipes), the book explains in layman’s terms what hormones and pesticides do to the foods we produce and grow and in turn, what that food does to us once we consume it.
So, if I haven’t lost you yet, here is a recipe I grudgingly tried and wound up really liking:
1 Head Cauliflower
Sea Salt and Black Pepper to taste
2 Tablespoons Organic Butter
1-2 Cloves of Garlic, Optional
Steam cauliflower until very soft (you can also boil but this is not recommended as a lot of the nutrients are lost). Chop up cauliflower and put in a food processor or blender with butter, salt, pepper, and garlic if desired. Blend to desired consistency.
Let me know if you have your own mashed, no potato recipe. I have been having fun trying new foods lately. Happy meal planning and cooking!
