I like the Twilight movies. To be fair though, I liked Stephanie Meyer’s books before there was a Twilight movie. Give me a book about vampires and I will probably read it – I was a huge fan of Anne Rice’s books back in the day. Come on, what isn’t intriguing about the idea of immortality?
So, it was with much anticipation that I went this past weekend to see the final Twilight movie, Breaking Dawn Part 2. Since I am bearing my soul here, I will admit that I even watched the first four movies, again, before going to see the last installment. Hey, you need to remember what is going on!
Long story short, I thought the movie was great. The effects were really good and it was nice to see Kristen Stewart play a different Bella. Bella in the books was good but Stewart’s characterization of Bella was annoying sometimes. Stewart/Bella the vampire rocked though. The new vampires were cast well and as always, it was great to have Charlie around. As far as I am concerned, Billy Burke was the best casting choice of any of the characters.
I tell you all of this to let you know that if you are looking for a movie to see over the holiday weekend, this movie is worth going to watch in the theater. And, if you are in Charleston and looking for some good matinee pricing, look no further than the James Island Carmike Cinemas. You can’t beat a $4.00 ticket price.
Happy vampire watching as we all bid adieu to Forks!
