One Strong Belief – June 2

Standard

Quote:

It is easy in the world to live after the world’s opinion; it is easy in solitude to live after our own; but the great man is he who in the midst of the crowd keeps with perfect sweetness the independence of solitude. – Ralph Waldo Emerson, Self-Reliance

Challenge:

The world is powered by passionate people, powerful ideas, and fearless action. What’s one strong belief you possess that isn’t shared by your closest friends or family? What inspires this belief, and what have you done to actively live it?

Response:

There are some people in my life that think I should take the bar here in South Carolina and practice law because that is what I went to school to do. I took and passed the bar in Montana and practiced as an attorney for a few years. I did not love being an attorney enough to put myself through the torture of another bar exam.

As far as what I have done to actively live a non-attorney life; I have spent time figuring out what I enjoy doing and what I would like to be doing in the future. I know that I am very good at and enjoy organization and scheduling. I also enjoy helping to move a team forward. If I couple that with my law degree, I know I would make a great paralegal or I could work in a similar challenging position. While I am doing that, I want to develop my passion for photography. I have a camera fund established to upgrade past the rubber-banded camera. I am reading books and blogs on photography. Finally, I would like to find a photographer to follow on shoots on the weekends.
