Package Store?

Standard

Someone said to me one night, “Let’s run down to the package store real quick.” When you read that, what do you think? Given that we were going to get the ingredients to make some margaritas for a hot Southern evening – I was confused. A scratch your head moment like the first time I heard FROG.

Now, those of you not from South Carolina may be thinking what I was thinking – is this like a FedEx store or just a local place where you buy boxes, paper and bubble wrap? You go in with your parcel to send, they “package” it and then they ship it?

It turns out a “package store” is also the same as an ABC store or a Red Dot store. This, believe it or not, is where you go to get alcohol (beer and wine is also available at the grocery store ). That’s right, no gift wrapping, no magnetic alphabet for sale or red dots to buy to do goodness knows what with – beer, liquor and wine – that’s the deal.

So, if you want to make those margaritas, then you have to look for that red dot out on the road!

    • I miss all of you as well! I would love a reunion. We have enough room to accommodate everyone. Come on down!
