Cheapest Way to Start a Restoration – Paint it!

You are missing out on a lot of the in between stages but here is what I was working with (small caveat, due to the loss of my camera – with honeymoon pictures on it and not downloaded – these partiular pictures were taken with a cell phone camera):

The dining room. Can you say dark – apart from the sunshine pouring through the window? Wainscoating and unpainted trim everywhere.

Then there was the living room. I will repeat myself: Dark!

Note the sleeping angels, Dixie and Laddie (for more on them check out Urban Dogging), in their red beds that seemed highly appropriate around Christmas time. Though, not so much anymore.

Now I unveil to you the new and improved dining room and living room. These pictures were taken with my husband’s camera that is being held together with a rubber band (refer to picture) so I apologize if they are not too fantastic either.

The new and improved dining room. You will see the washroom in the back. I will provide details on its makeover in the future.

And, if you were wondering, that is a portable organ on the right side of the picture. Portable in this instance being relative to the idea of an organ being portable. No, I don’t know how to play it if you were also wondering that. Its a great conversation piece though!

And, the living room. Nice and bright and inviting now! That picture on the wall sure does look tiny though doesn’t it? It really is not that small though.

And for good measure, here is the hallway. It was some sad, light blue color that looked almost gray in the right light, or I guess wrong light. Also, if you look close enough, you will notice that there are no family photos in the picture frames. Just got the picture frames the other day. That put the kabosh on my trips to Bed Bath and Beyond to use our gift cards from our wedding – sniff, sniff.

So, that is what prompted my attack on this house – a dark living room and dining room with exposed wood. It was crying out for my paint brush and I obliged it!
